Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Married people experience love most strongly through five love languages--quality time, words of encouragement, gifts, acts of service, and physical touch. With thoughtfulness and a gee-whiz tone that works well in all his audios, Gary Chapman aims his insights at men who want more from marriage, as well as those who have more to give. He's a humble teacher, describing the five languages with satisfying examples from his counseling practice and framing his ideas as suggestions. Without making light of the work a marriage requires, he'll convince most men that, if they love their wives, they can easily express it in ways that can make a marriage truly special for everybody.

4 out of 5 stars It doesn't hurt   November 24, 2008

I have been married for 12 years and we have a 5 year old girl. A friend recommended this book to me. I think the book does a good job making you realize that there are different emotional priorities (languages). If you're of the philosophy that marriage takes work, this may help channel your 'work' more effectively. I thought the examples used were strikingly accurate. I now know that my wife and I have different primary love languages and that knowledge is power. It's a worthwhile read and only positive things can come out of it.

5 out of 5 stars Better the second time around   August 26, 2008

I read this book with a small group of married couples more than 10 years ago and learned much from it. Reading and hearing this version for men was a nice refresher and reminded me of a few important aspects of marriage. The new material after each love language chapter was especially helpful. It's great to be able to "read" a book like this while sitting in Atlanta traffic.

1 out of 5 stars not worth the read!   July 3, 2008

My wife and I read this book together and found it very simple, nothing new. People, just use your own common sense and treat each other with love and respect and you will be happy together. Plus just too pious for our tastes.

5 out of 5 stars Duh? Why didn't anybody tell me this before?   June 12, 2008

This was what my husband said after he heard the CDs. I got this CD set for my husband, after I heard about and read the book. It explained one side of common dissatisfaction in the marriage quite well, in a way that we could relate to, plus offered useful tips for solving it. My husband would never sit down and read a book. But he likes talk radio, and in this format, he was able to become familiar with the five love languages and how do things in a way that I can acknowledge that he is making an effort to please me. And vice versa. Now he keeps mentioning how he likes to keep my "love tank" full. (a book euphemism for general satisfaction in the marriage)

5 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC PURCHASE   March 9, 2008

The product was delivered in a timely manner and without any damage. The audio CD's are great for my fiance. He listens to them on his way to and from work. There is alot of practical advice and relates lessons to real life couples and their situations to better understand the art of relationships. Gary Chapman speaks as though he was a friend having a conversation with you. We are very pleased with the purchase and will listen to it a few times I am sure.
