| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The first in an epic two-book saga by beloved author Francine Rivers, this sweeping story explores the complicated relationships between mothers and daughters over several generations. Near the turn of the 20th century, fiery Marta leaves Switzerland determined to find life on her own terms. Her journey takes her through Europe and finally lands her with children and husband in tow in the central valley of California. Marta’s experiences convince her that only the strong survive. Hildie, Marta’s oldest daughter, has a heart to serve others, and her calling as a nurse gives her independence, if not the respect of her mother. Amid the drama of WWII, Hildie marries and begins a family of her own. She wants her daughter never to doubt her love—but the challenges of life conspire against her vow. Each woman is forced to confront her faulty but well-meaning desire to help her daughter find her God-given place in the world.

| Customer Reviews: Relly liked the book September 10, 2010 F. Lawson (Carrollton, Texas United States) I really liked the book. I was a little disappointed that the story was not resolved by the end, but I guess that means I'll buy the sequel.
One of her best! September 9, 2010 Ava Chapman (Texas) Really enjoyed this book! Loved it because it was long and interesting the whole time. When I came to the end, I was deep in thought about my own relationships. Even though I didn't find myself in either of these main women, it was a very thought provoking book! Because it was partly real life for Francine, it had to be difficult to write but she aced it!
Excellent as always September 6, 2010 Rose Lee (Arkansas) I totally agree with the previous reviewer. This is another excellent Francine Rivers book and I can't wait for the sequel which is due out on September 14. Francine Rivers has a gift that is God-given and used to His honor. Anyone who has ever read Rivers knows what I mean. If you haven't read Rivers you need to do so. Her books will impact your life.
Depressing? Yes. Boring, No. August 26, 2010 hooked on authors (Georgia) I read reviews of this book and though Francine Rivers doesn't catch my passion every time, I decided to read it. With nothing else waiting while for another popular book at the libray, I knew I probably wouldn't get far just because of the thickness of the book. I read it in a week (neglecting other duties) and amHer Mother's Hope (Marta's Legacy) ordering the second book not waiting for the library. Maybe you have to have the experience of WWII through parents' eyes to see where the strengths of the book lie. It is cruel to write a review without reading the redeeming features of the way the book ends. Plow through it. You won't regret it because the ending is redeeming! Hurry, send the other one fast!!
Excellent Service! August 25, 2010 Shirley Thanks that the book arrived promptly and in excellent condition. When you called it "like new," you told it like it was. Keep up the good work!
