In order to call themselves good Christians, many people have drawn overly flexible boundaries (unwilling to say no, always accommodating others' needs) or overly rigid boundaries (to the point of being righteous and judgmental). Psychologists and inspirational speakers Cloud and Townsend show readers how to set reasonable boundaries in order to follow the true path of Christianity. This book has become immensely popular, most likely because it makes personal boundaries easier to define and is filled with spiritual purpose. Some cautions: the format can be overly self-helpish for such a complex discussion and the authors at one point imply that judicious spankings may be an acceptable form of setting boundaries with children. However, many Christians will probably find themselves grateful for this biblical context of boundaries. --Gail Hudson

 What a joke - look close before you order September 3, 2010

I ordered this for my wife as she has lost her book. I did not read the fine print which states this is a minature edition of the book at about 3 x 4 inches max. Return shipping is $3.99 so I will take this as a joke on me - not happy about purchase

~Boundaries: When to Say Yes, When to Say No to Take Control of Your Life~ is a book I encountered after a difficult courtship that failed in God's frowning providence. Amidst seeking advice, the notion of maintaining meaningful boundaries in one's life came to my attention, as a Christian friend, brought this informative book to my attention. Robert Frost once said, 'Good fences make good neighbors.' Guarding against trespasses on your personal boundaries often entails preemptive steps to fence off those areas of your life, so as to avoid the encroachment in the first place. Herein, psychologists Cloud and Townsend offer constructive counsel on taking control of your life by maintaining personal space, and boundaries in your life. Some of the prescriptive advice is common sense, but the context in which the counsel is delivered makes the examples worthwhile reading. Avoiding sins of the tongue and personal revelations of private matters is part of the boundaries equation. Similarly, not disclosing too many sensitive personal details about your life, family or career, or entertaining the scrutiny of your life by outsiders is helpful at upholding boundaries.

Best book on setting boundaries I've encountered. Most of us have at least some dysfunction in our families. This book clearly depicts healthy boundaries, outlines the consequences of setting or not setting them, and helps removes the guilt some of us will have in the process. It even addresses being nice and still maintaining personal boundaries. Take back your power with clear and healthy boundaries! Highly recommend it!

Mjm review
I purchased this book to go along with the workbook. When I received the book it was 2" x 2"...not hardly a book at all. I didn't notice anything about it being more of a daily devotional than the actual book meant to be read. The "little" book should not have been in the same price range as the original. I didn't notice the miniature series noted by the publisher. But I didn't let the seller know so it's my loss. It was packaged well and delivered in a timely manner.

Well, I guess I need to remember "buyer beware" because I ordered 2 of these books, one for myself, and one for my friend, thinking we could read and review the book together. What I failed to do was to read the information in the parenthises that said (Inspirio/Zondervan Miniature Editions). The books are very miniature, and only have a small amount of the normal sized book. I feel my boundaries have been violated.
