| Customer Reviews: A Personal View Into What Mother Is Really About June 12, 2010 Rosemarie Smead (Louisville, KY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Although I have followed EWTN that Mother Angelica created for several years, I really did not "know" Mother. This little book is RICH in prayers she has developed for herself and her nuns, and now, we get to share in this grace for our own development in our Life with Jesus. What a blessing that this book is available to us! Thank you Thank you! Dr. R.S.
Small, delightful book of prayers May 21, 2010 Jeri Nevermind (Idaho) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Raymond Arroyo has another wonderful book about Mother Angelica. In this case, he has collected "a repository of her favorite prayers" (p x).
It is hard not to imagine Mother saying these prayers as you read them. Some of the prayers are for times of trial or suffering. And every time I think of an enclosed nun trying to start a television station with only $200 and the Holy Spirit I certainly know she went through times of true suffering.
Mother Angelica couldn't walk for years until her miracle. Yet her faith sustained her. And she would have had need for "A Prayer for Strength" which starts out "Love is a sublime prison...Your Spirit within me forms an invisble wall that protects me" (p 27). Isn't that beautiful?
I was greatly moved by this collection of prayers.
Holier than thou? May 16, 2010 K. Ducker (Brisbane Australia) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I feel holier just owning this book and highly recommend it to all faithful Catholics (and perhaps the not so faithful ones!). This beautiful Nun's collections and prayers are so wonderful to read and pray. They are in a variety of styles also. You can just feel Raymond Arroyo's love and respect for her in the beautiful presentation of her prayers and devotions in this book.
I ask the Lord to Bless and keep her and thank her for sharing her personal devotions with us.
Charming May 12, 2010 Elizabeth Wallace (Framingham, Massachusetts) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a charming book for anyone who wants to open more windows of divine inspiration.
Returning to the source is returning to the words attributed to Christ Himself. Jesus said it all, succinctly and in the context of the moment. Too many words have been written over too many years that are not His. The attached and beautifully illustrated book Jesus Christ In His Own Words holds only quotes of Jesus from the Canonical and Gnostic Gospels without opinions, spin, agendas, conflict, or approval ratings; allowing the reader hold the words of Jesus in mind relative to the question of our times and circumstances, to think, to imagine, and to believe.
Simple and so beautiful, shows true love of God and faith April 25, 2010 RS (Pennsylvania) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been a big fan of Mother Angelica since 1992. This book is yet another example of why I admire her so much. Her trust and love of God in all things is so sincere and simple yet you can see in this book how she struggled at times just like the rest of us. A beautiful book full of prayers to be used for many trials and tribulations.
